SBGrid Australasian III Mini-series
We're excited to announce our third Australasian regional mini-series, this time with focus on cryo-electron microscopy. With five lectures and nine speakers this session should appeal to both novice and expert structural biologists. The mini-series will be hosted by Drs. Kurt Krause (U. Otago), Piotr Sliz (Harvard Medical School) and Antoine van Oijen(UoW). Community members can connect via Zoom for these 1-hour sessions including Q&A.

October 27: Opening Keynote by Prof. Yifan Cheng, UCSF. Single particle cryo-EM: capturing structural snapshots and studying endogenous complexes.

November 3: Sample Preparation. From single particle cryoEM to MicroED, tomography and FIB milling. A panel discussion with Drs. Sara Weaver (UCLA), Lisa Eshun-Wilson (Scripps Research) and William Nicolas (CALTECH).

November 10th: Single Particle CryoEM: from data to structure. Effective on-the-fly and downstream processing of CryoEM data by Dr. Shaun Rawson (Harvard Medical School); Using AlphaFold protein structures in ChimeraX for cryoEM modeling by Dr. Tom Goddard (UCSF)

November 17th: Special Lecture by Prof. Tamir Gonen, UCLA. MicroED: conception, practice and future opportunities

Nov 24th: Regional CryoEM infrastructure in Australia. From Data Collection to Analysis: Discussion with Dr. James Bouwer, Ph.D., University of Wollongong; Dr. Melanie Rug, Australian National University; Prof. Eric Hanssen, University of Melbourne; Dr. Hari Venugopal, Monash University
